allowance day

This is my attempt at emulating alanna cavanaugh's style,
although the illustrations I saw had detailed eyes and big mouths.
I like her confident use of a few lines to convey a personality.
Oh - and we're catching up on 6 weeks of allowance.
How is it all going to fit into that little piggy?

day in bed

This is where I've spent most of the past
48 hours with my flu/cold/misery.
Thanks to my mom & my husband for taking
care of the little e so I was free to snooze at will.

birthday show

Anna and Ashton celebrated Keith's birthday
last night by giving a show on the back porch
which consisted of reenactments/re-tellings
of various Calvin and Hobbes comic strips.

shipping tags

I love shipping tags! I used a storebought one as the template
and then made these out of double-sided cardstock.
Aren't they cute?!

jogging stroller

My mother-in-law loaned me her jogging stroller recently,
and it's super nifty! Hard to steer, but so much easier
to run with than a traditional stroller. I'm determined to get as much
use out of it as I can before it turns 100 degrees out,
which (who knows?) might be next week!

As you all know, I've been experimenting with how
to proceed in this blog. Here's my latest inspiration.

focus #1

This doesn't say everything I'd like it to,
but I ran out of time today. So I may keep
working on it, or start a series; I'm sure it
will continue to be a theme in my life.

crawling baby

Elliott and I hung out at the play place in Park Mall today.
Lots of cute babies abound. He had a good ol' time.

cutting in the trim

As some of you know, my faith community who started
a church together (that's Pastor Rod in the top pic with
baby Raya, and my husband Pastor Eric in the lower pic)
recently bought a building. It's been a great gift, supported
financially by a lot of people both on the outside and the inside,
and especially appreciated after 8 years of meeting in other
people's spaces. So, much of my creative energy and that
of other people is going into re-creating this building so that it
reflects who we are. My part in it today was to finalize the color
choices with a few other people, go buy the paint, and cut in
some trim at the top and bottom of the walls while chasing
my kiddos about.

good stuff

I feel this in multiple ways.
With people, I see all the good I could do that I'm
choosing, for whatever reason, not to do. And struggle
to release my self-imposed guilt. And with things, I see
all the exciting possibilities for creativity and beauty.
Which is good and hopeful while being
simultaneously frustrating.

painting spaces

Today's creative energies went toward transforming a
barren room into the husband's new office.
How 'bout that orange?
