The daily sketch just can't always happen on paper.

We're enjoying ours now that the temperature

bird on fire

This was our Thanksgiving adventure!

the great annual pie bake

Every year since we got married, my husband & I have held The
Great Annual Pie Bake on the night before Thanksgiving.
We eat some light, quick dinner, pop in a movie (preferably
one we've seen before or don't care about so we don't get distracted),
and pump out as many pies as possible. The first year was just
the two of us, Little Women, and 5 pies. Tonight (13 years later)
there were 20-some people, Napoleon Dynamite, and 26 pies.
The men usually run the apple peeler-corer-slicer with some help
from the kids, and my daughter makes a mad variety
of miniature pies. It's the best part of Thanksgiving!

dog food in the butter compartment

Elliott was playing happily (and very quietly) outside
last week, after which I discovered dog food all over
the porch and strategically placed in the refrigerator.

runaway trees

This sketch arose last year from some conversations I had
regarding myself & others who seemed determined
to run even though God was inviting us to stay put.
Some of us were running from Tucson, some from resting,
some from relationship, etc.
I guess it's mostly about our general inability to experience
contentment and about God's patient tenacity with us.

native cafe

Tucson used to have this great restaurant/coffee shop
called Native Cafe. Good food and great atmosphere.
Sniff, sniff. I miss you, Native Cafe.

another hose bib

A few years back, we bought a hose bib to replace one that was
leaking. It was made out of this heavy bronze metal with shiny,
freshly painted parts. It's rare to see things these days that
are so solid and beautiful in their basic form & function.
I painted several versions of it! Watercolor, 2004.
