days of rest

Seed Pods, watercolor, 5"x5"
I've been going out of my way lately to find spaces for rest.
I'm not particularly good at resting, but I feel the need to respond to Jesus.
He said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30 NIV)
Last week, I practiced resting by spending a few hours alone at a
generous friend's house. This painting came from that time.

my seven-year-old drew this one

It's from the cover of a Calvin and Hobbes comic book
compendium. I quite like Elliott's rendering of this little alien!

Jeremiah 29:11

I made this collage recently as a gift for a friend.

As for the last post, I didn't make it very far into the book.
I don't know if it was the content of the book itself
or just the fact of reading it in a digital format,
but it didn't turn out to be all that interesting.
I did finish the 1st painting but then lost it in our ongoing
closet reorganization project. So I suppose it will turn
up one of these days and I'll get it posted!

Life has been rather shuffly like that lately.
I'm praying that only unimportant stuff falls through
the ever-widening cracks in the floor of our days!
