sewing strawberries
Sorry for the delay in posting this week.
I was up to my ears in red, sequined fabric, trying
with Julie to design & construct the strawberry
costumes that Anna & Ashton had asked for. We pulled it off,
complete with leaf hats & strawberry-shaped candy bags.
The design was simple on the prototype cotton fabric,
but it took several hours to figure out how to sew on
the cheap, gluey, sequined stuff. WD-40 to the rescue!
I told my husband that if I ever start a sewing circle,
I'll call it the "Prayer & Swear," since those are
the two main things I do while I'm sewing.

mommy necklace
It doesn't have any clasps and isn't long enough to fit around
my neck, but I think it's a pretty great gift.

plum harvest 2001
We have a plum tree in the back yard which Eric sometimes tends
very carefully to protect it from the birds and the bugs
and also the children who think fresh, unripened fruit is fun to pick
(which is true -- it is!). Some years he wraps the whole tree, other
years not. But as far as I can remember, this is always about how
much fruit we get off of that great big tree. Watercolor, 2001.
